Lumbini is the birth place of Lord Buddha (Siddhartha Gautam) and a religious site for the Buddhist from all over the world. A large stone pillar created by the Indian emperor Ashoka in BC 250 bears an inscription about the birth of the Buddha it is located in the southern Terai (plains area) of Nepal, where is the ruins of old city can be seen Maya Devi there is a stone image of Maya Devi giving birth to Lord Buddha as she holds onto a branch.
